Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church for Mabel Christmas Bogan, age 97,  of Picayune, Mississippi, who died May 8, 2018 in Slidell Memorial Hospital. 

Rev. Leon Cooper will officiate at the service, assisted by Rev. Robert Pittman.

Burial will be in the Picayune, Cemetery under the direction of Hartwell Christian Mortuary, and Baylous Funeral Home. 

A native of Logtown, Mississippi,  she was a retired social  worker for Mississippi Head Start from 1966 until 2004.

She  received  a cosmetology license in 1949 and was the owner of Mabel Beauty Salon.

She worked at Baylous Funeral Home since the age of 12.  After the passing of her mother Allice  Kalin. she became the owner  of  Baylous Funeral Home.

She was a  member of the Mississippi Funeral Association. 

Mrs. Bogan was a Member of  Weems Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Association.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Bogan, Walter Bogan, David Bogan; eight daughters, Annie M. Stewart, Carolyn Johnson, Dovie Bogan, Doris Granderson, Margaret Straughn, Terry Lynn Bumpers, Suzzette Neely, Anita Bogan; one sister, Charlene Payton; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Mrs. Bogan was preceded  in death,  by her husband Robert Bogan; one daughter, Shirley Ann Bogan; one son, Jackie Fred Bogan; one grandson, Kema Keys; one granddaughter, Crystal Straughn;  her parents, Allice Kalin Baylous and Robert E. Baylous; one sister, Tillie M. Sykes;  one brother, Robert E. Baylous.

Visitation will be  Sunday May 20, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Baylous Funeral Home,  Hartwell Christian Mortuary and Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of the Service.
