A 71-year-old Alabama man was killed in a one-vehicle crash while travelling through Pearl River County northbound on Interstate 59 Thursday at 7:25 p.m.
According to a press release from Chase Elkins of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 71-year-old James C. Taylor Jr., of Moundville, Ala.
Troopers arrived at the scene and determined through an investigation that Taylor apparently lost control of his 2003 Toyota Tundra left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree head-on, according to the release.
First responders determined the cause of Taylor’s death to be due to blunt force trauma sustained during the collision, said Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no passengers were in the vehicle, according to the release.
