Poplarville Head Start now accepting applications

Poplarville Head Start is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 academic year. Parents should submit applications as soon as possible.
Center Administrator Carol Avery said the school has 25 slots for children 3- to 5-years-old.
Parents unable to register their child on or before May 25 will get a second chance if spots become available for the program, she said. Applications not approved initially will be added to the waiting list.
Avery said eligible families will need to meet certain income requirements and have a children who will be 3 years of age by Sept. 1 of this year.
According to a release from Head Start, parents must bring the child’s birth certificate, the child’s immunization records, proof of family income, medical card and Social Security card when submitting an application.
The information needs to be brought to the Poplarville Head Start campus, located at 205 East Locke St., Poplarville between 9 a.m., and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Parents who do not register by May 25 will be required to contact 601-798-6981 in order to complete the application, Avery said.
Head Start is part of Mississippi Action for Progress, a program designed to provide services that prepare children of low-income families for school.
