Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church for Inissa Bledsoe Harris, who transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Picayune, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Pastor Henry S. Marshall will officiate at the service.

Inissa Bledsoe Harris, 34, daughter of Gayle W. Bledsoe and Vanessa Hobson Bledsoe, was born in Picayune, Mississippi on January 11, 1984.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, uniting with the Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church in Picayune, Mississippi, and was baptized by the late Pastor, Rev. C. D. McSwain. She later became a member of the Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C, pastored by Elder David Simmons. Under the new leadership of Pastor Henry S. Marshall, she reunited with Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church.

Inissa was a 2002 graduate of Picayune Memorial High School. She attended college at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Development. Following graduation she was employed by the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and worked in the Childhood Development Center. She later worked at Picayune Early Head Start Southside Branch, and until her death was employed by McCarthy Learning Center in Picayune, Mississippi.

Inissa met and fell in love with Joel R. Harris of Houma. Louisiana. They were married on July 14, 2012. They became the proud parents of a blended family, Zion T. Evans, Kingston R. Harris, Kaylen Harris and Adrian Harris.

Her life goal was teaching and reaching children. She was currently enrolled in grad school pursuing a Master of Education degree in Curriculum Instruction from Concordia University. Coming from a musically talented family, she had an angelic voice and loved to sing.

Inissa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Denon and Nira Lee Bledsoe; one aunt, Maude H. Bledsoe.

Left with many precious memories are her husband of 6 years, Joel R. Harris; three sons, Zion T. Evans and Kingston R. Harris of Picayune and Adrian Harris of Alexandria, Louisiana; one daughter Kaylen Harris of Alexandria, Louisiana; one sister, Lanira R. Bledsoe of Slidell, Louisiana; her maternal grandparents, Frank and Inez Hobson of Picayune, Mississippi; one nephew, Julian E. Parker of Slidell, Louisiana; two aunts, Hilda Hobson Grayson (Rev. Floyd) of Kenner, Louisiana; Hazel J. Mitchell (Otho) of Chicago, Illinois; six uncles, Victor Hobson (Sharon) of Slidell, Louisiana; Avery E. Hobson, Sr. (Macy) of Arlington, Texas; Willie D. Bledsoe (Eddie Mae) of Chicago, Illinois; Daniel L. Wesley and Derrick A. Bledsoe (Angela) of Brookhaven, Mississippi; Michael A. Bledsoe (Doretha) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; God-mother, Pamela Dees Rhodes of Picayune, Mississippi; two special daughters, Wanda and Sade Worley of Picayune, Mississippi; one God-child, Alexandria N. Hart of Picayune, Mississippi; one God-sister, Klhoé Grays of Picayune, Mississippi; a special friend, Britteny Nelson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; many special great aunts and uncles, and a host of dear cousins and friends.

Internment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
