Maxem Health Urgent Care in Picayune will be hosting its first Mardi Gras celebration and Health Fair on Feb.1.
The event will be held at Maxem Health Urgent Care from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 422 Memorial Boulevard.
Holly Harlan, Vice President of Operations at Maxem Health, said the health fair will offer free flu shots and blood pressure checks.
Harlan said the event will also feature king cake, music and games.
“Especially for the children, we are organizing face painting and an arts and craft session where they will be decorating umbrellas, handkerchiefs and visors,” Harlan said.
Attendees can also participate in a sack race, pin the mask on the jester and a raffle. Raffle winners get a chance to take home a special king cake from Paul’s Pastry and various gift cards.
Harlan said the celebration will also feature a Mardi Gras parade in the parking lot next to the clinic at 1:30 p.m., where beads and moonpies will be thrown to everyone present.
“Through the event we want to show our appreciation to the community and considering it’s the first time we are organizing it we are expecting at least 50-60 people to show up,” Harlan said.
The event is free and open to public.
