Law enforcement agencies within Pearl River County worked dozens of accidents Friday as a result of the icy weather.
Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said officers in the city worked about 21 accidents during that day. But by about 5 p.m., most of the ice had begun to thaw from the bridges.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said deputies responded to 83 accidents by 5:20 Friday evening.
Law enforcement officials advise people to stay off the roads tonight through Saturday morning since freezing conditions are expected.
