Funeral Services for Erma L. Smith Hanson, age 96, of Picayune, Mississippi, who passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 12:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Old Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

John Pigott will officiate the service.

A native of Merryville, Louisiana, she was a retired Food Supervisor for Picayune Convalescent  and a member of Picayune Church of Christ Picayune. Erma was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Franks and Myrtie Cochran Franks; her husbands, Joseph E. Smith, Jr. and John Earl Hanson; her sister, Euna Butler; her brothers, Curtis Franks and Leslie Franks; and her grandson, Steven (Stevie) R. Stockstill, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph “Joe” E. (Donna) Smith, III, Cathy S. (Jeff) Moody, and Jimmy C. (Linda) Smith; four grandchildren, Nickie Smith, Jody Smith, Chris (Trish) Smith, and Jessica (Mason) Baker; seven great grandchildren, Joey Smith,V., Corey, Collin, and Gracie Smith, Avery Baker,and Aaron and Austin Stockstill; and her brother, J.C. (Cooter) Franks.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Pat Carnes, and the ladies from Our Place, for all of their loving care.
