Emmett George Dupas, Jr. passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Suzanne Misbach Dupas. Father of Emmett George Dupas, III (Jennifer) and Nicole Dupas Houston (Rick). Son of the late Emmett G. Dupas, Sr. and Yvonne M. Wilson Dupas. Brother of Sandy Dupas, Jerry Dupas and the late Suzanne Dupas Hall and Sally Dupas Monjure. Grandfather of Jeremy Dupas, Emma Houston, Ethan Dupas, and Callie Houston. Great Grandfather of Ayden Dupas.

Mr. Dupas received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Dominican College. As a veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Dupas served his country proudly during the Vietnam War.  He was a Mason and Past President of Carolyn Park playground and a football coach for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Fireman’s Charitable & Benevolent Association.

Mr. Dupas retired as a Sergeant from the New Orleans Police Department after 27 years of service. He was the most decorated police officer on the New Orleans Police Department, receiving several Medals of Merit, Commendations and the Medal of Valor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Monday, November 20, 2017, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 1:00 PM.
