Poplarville man killed during altercation

A Poplarville man was shot Thursday evening after he went to a home in the Henleyfield Community to confront the residents.
Personnel with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department received the call at about 8 p.m. that night that a man had been shot outside a home on Carey Byrd Road, said Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.
Emergency responders arrived to find 43-year-old Marty Lee of 463 Derby Whitesand Rd., Poplarville suffering from a gun shot to his abdomen, Tucker said.
Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said Lee’s cause of death was due to a gunshot to the abdomen.
