A Picayune man was arrested in Hancock County earlier this week after he allegedly spit in the face of a store manager and later shoplifted from a nearby store.
Richard Bruce Carver, 49, of Picayune, was arrested by the Waveland Police Department on Aug. 31 after officers were called to a local business in reference to a disturbance, a departmental release states.
The victim told officers she was smoking outside when she came into contact with Carver, who was sitting in the breezeway, the release states.
Carver allegedly made racial and sexual comments at the victim, at which time she advised him that she was the manager of the property and he needed to leave. The woman told police that he became upset, cursed at her and then spit in her face, according to the release.
Carver then allegedly entered another business in the area where he shoplifted some merchandise. When officers located him, he told them he had “multiple communicable diseases,” the release states.
Carver was arrested for simple assault and knowingly exposing the victim to a disease, the release states.
Hancock County jail records show he was also charged with shoplifting.
He is being held on a $7,000 bond.
