Local teams to introduce football rosters Thursday

The 2017 football season kicks off in nine days and the teams are finalizing their rosters. In the heat of preparing for the new season, south Mississippi will be introduced to the rising players of each team in Pearl River County on Thursday.
The Meet the Tide fundraising event at Picayune Memorial High School’s Lee-Triplett Stadium will take place August 10 at 6 p.m. During the event, which costs $5 for admission, performances by the Pride of the Tide band, dance team and cheerleading squad will begin the festivities. Following is the introduction of the Maroon Tide football varsity roster at 7 p.m.
After the players are announced, a walk through practice will be held to give participants a sneak peek of how hard the team practices and see the upcoming talents of this year’s Maroon Tide.
Meet the Blue Devils will take place Thursday at 6 p.m., PRC Head Coach Larry Dolan said. During the free event, the crowd at Pearl River Central High School’s football stadium will be introduced to each member of the 2017 rosters.
Poplarville will introduce the football team that seeks to make another historic run to the state championship this season during their Meet the Hornets event August 10 at 7 p.m. The Meet the Hornets event is free of charge and will be located at the high school football stadium.
