Darryl Warner III, 23, of Poplarville, pleaded guilty to one count of child exploitation in Pearl River County Circuit Court Monday.
Warner was arrested April 5, 2016 for allegedly possessing images depicting children in explicitly sexual ways, which included children under the age of 8, a press release from the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office states.
He was taken into custody at Pearl River Community College where he was enrolled at the time of his arrest, according to previous Item coverage.
Warner, originally from Picayune, was arrested by Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Investigator Wayne Lynch, with help from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and the Picayune Police Department.
Warner pleaded guilty Monday to the charge before Circuit Court Judge Claiborne “Buddy” McDonald, the release states.
He will be sentenced on Aug. 11 at 9 a.m., according to the release. The offense is punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
Warner is represented by Kevin R. Roberts, an attorney in Picayune, according to court records.
“I would like to thank our officers involved and the Attorney General’s office for putting a good case together and removing a predator from the streets,” Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.
