Pearl River County Road Manager Charlie Schielder said his crews are a little more than halfway done with the 2017 paving list.
To date, crews have completed about 16.5 miles of county road repaving projects, he said.
The list consists of 33 sections of roads and varies in length from 1,500 to 12,000 feet. A total of 30.8 miles are being repaved for 2017.
As of Wednesday, the completed paving projects are:

-Harry Sones Road
-Hayes Road

-Shenandoah Road

-Windy Acres Road
Schielder said crews have been rained out for 15 days, but managed to complete 42 working days so far this year.
Meanwhile, crews continue to repair potholes, he said, with both machines running after the day’s paving is complete.
Board Vice President Hudson Holliday said during a Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday that pothole crews are having to take up to two trips a day to Lumberton to get enough tar for the projects.
“That’s two hours a day at least they could be out working,” he said.
Holliday said the road department used to have five pothole patching machines, but three were apparently not maintained properly and are not useable.

Work to repair or maintain bridges also continues, County Engineer Les Dungan said Rock Ranch Road is scheduled for a final inspection and is open to the public.
Contractors working on Springhill Road are in the final phase of the project, which will last about another 4 to 6 weeks, Dungan said.
When contractors finish there, they will move to Hickory Grove Road, he said.
Bids will be opened on August 1 for bridge repairs on Ottis Jones Road, Dungan said.
Bridge replacement projects on Sones Chapel and Harry Sones roads are currently in the right of way acquisition phase, he said.
