A swift take on Poplarville projects

The new Poplarville Board of Aldermen hit the ground running—almost literally—at their first public meeting this week.
In just under three hours, the Board approved several items that rolled over from the previous administration.
While the project isn’t final yet, the Board seemed confident in their decision to seek permanent fixes for three growing road and infrastructure problems.
This is an issue many used during their campaigns so it’s fulfilling to see them take a proactive approach to meeting those promises in an economic, although expensive, way.
The city budget already needed to be addressed, and this is going to force the new Board to look closely at the numbers.
Although tax revenue is increasing due to new appraisal values, the city can’t be too quick to spend that new money.
That seems to be something the new Board is well aware of.
With new members filling those seats in City Hall, it’s also interesting to note the Board members are now primarily female.
Whether this has any impact on the decisions they make is irrelevant, but I appreciate the leadership skills they are showing and adding a new perspective to the group.
Building upon that new perspective is a new mayor and his take on leadership and running the Boardroom, and of course the city.
With two more local businessmen on board, economical and impactful decisions have already been the theme of this new administration.
If their decision-making skills so far have given us any indication, this Board is sure to make some changes to the city of Poplarville.
