Local grocery stores remain open, government and some pharmacies closed July 4th

While Fourth of July celebrations are on tap, many government and county offices will be closed along with a couple of local pharmacies.
Picayune and Poplarville residents wishing to purchase last minute hamburgers and hot dogs will be able to get their food at all local grocery stores, including Claiborne Hill in Picayune and Ramey’s in Poplarville.
However, all city and county offices in Picayune and Poplarville will be closed to the public Monday and Tuesday. Normal business hours will resume Wednesday.
In Poplarville, the only pharmacy that will be open on Independence Day is Fred’s Westside Pharmacy. Boone’s Pharmacy in Poplarville will be closed.
Within Picayune, Walgreens pharmacy on Highway 11 and Rite Aid pharmacy on Memorial Boulevard will be open Tuesday.
Pharmacies within CVS, Walgreens on Highway 43, Fred’s Westside, Picayune Drug Co. and City Rexall Drugs will all be closed, but will be open every other day of the week.
Both public libraries in Picayune and Poplarville will close at 5 p.m. Monday and will not reopen until Thursday, July 6.
