A multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate-59 in December resulted in multiple injuries and the death of a Carriere man.
According to previous reports, the accident occurred at about 6 p.m. December 30 when an SUV entered the southbound lane of the interstate and headed north. It sideswiped a truck before colliding head-on with a sedan.
Ethan Robert Carroll, 26, was a passenger in the sedan at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead on the scene due to blunt force trauma to the head, chest and internal organs, previous coverage states.
Three other people were airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans, according to previous coverage.
The SUV driver, identified as 43-year-old Ricardo Mitchell McDonald, sustained injuries and as a result was not immediately arrested by the investigating agency, Pearl River Police Department.
However, warrants were later issued for his arrest for vehicular homicide, two counts of first degree vehicular negligent injury, vehicular negligent injury, reckless operation and no insurance.
McDonald, of 715 S. Haugh Avenue R14, was arrested May 3 by the Picayune Police Department on those warrants.
The arrest was made when an officer on patrol spotted McDonald, knowing he had warrants out for his arrest, Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.
