After searching for several days, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested a local man wanted for residential burglaries and other charges.
Saturday morning, the department received a tip from the community that Grant Johnson, 25, was in his father’s home on Johnny Johnson Road, Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said.
Johnson was wanted in relation to a residential burglary that occurred on Preacher Powell Road early Thursday morning, previous coverage states.
Johnson allegedly attempted to break into other vehicles and homes in the Caesar area, stealing two firearms and a 4-wheeler, according to previous coverage.
While Johnson remained missing until Saturday, his father, Lawrence Johnson, 53, was arrested Thursday for accessory before the fact and conspiracy to commit burglary. The stolen 4-wheeler was also located in the woods near his home, previous coverage states.
As deputies arrived at the Johnny Johnson Road home, they could hear someone moving inside, Ogden said.
When the deputies entered the home, Grant Johnson resisted arrest by fighting, Ogden said.
He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the county jail where he was arrested for residential burglary of an inhabited dwelling, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Ogden said.
Investigators continue to look into Grant Johnson’s potential involvement in other burglaries, and future charges could be pressed, Ogden said.
Firearms located in the home are believed to be from the burglary, but that has not been confirmed, he said.
