A missing autistic Picayune man was found safe in Metairie Tuesday morning.

Robert Joseph “Robbie” Zwirek, III, 27, was reported missing by his family after he left his Picayune residence at about 3 p.m. on April 1, previous coverage states.

After investigators spoke with Zwirek’s father again on Tuesday morning, it was learned he was possibly picked up by a group home in Metairie where Zwirek previously lived, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

The investigator confirmed with the supervisor of the group home that Zwirek was voluntarily picked up and taken to the facility, Magri said.

Zwirek was found unharmed at the facility and his family was notified, Magri said.
