The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information related to a recent string of vehicle burglaries in the Hickory Ridge and JD Gill Road areas.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the department received nine reports of vehicle burglaries in the area of Hickory Ridge Drive that allegedly occurred Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Five more vehicle burglaries were reported Thursday morning in the JD Gill Road area in Carriere, Ogden said.
At this point in the investigation, it’s unclear if both incidents were conducted by the same suspect or suspects, he said.
Complainants said their vehicles had been rifled through, with only cash and prescription medication stolen, Ogden said. All 14 of the burgled vehicles were unlocked, he said.
“We at the sheriff’s department would like to remind everybody to please lock their vehicles at night and during the day,” Ogden said. “Don’t leave anything of value in the car that can be seen through the window.”
The Department is asking for the public’s help to apprehend the person or persons involved, Ogden said.
“If you’ve seen anything suspicious, please call the sheriff’s department; we’re looking for any information,” he said.
To report information, call the department at 601-798-5528.
