A Poplarville woman died in a single vehicle accident in Pass Christian Monday night. Her child survived unharmed.

On Oct. 31 at 8:46 p.m., the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an overturned vehicle on Firetower Road, Records Supervisor Regina Blackstock said.

The 2008 Honda Accord, driven by Alisha Davenport, 22, of Poplarville, was traveling north on Firetower Road when Davenport lost control, Blackstock said.

The vehicle left the roadway, striking an embankment and driveway before becoming airborne and landing in a ditch, Blackstock said.

As a result, the vehicle flipped and the driver was ejected, she said.

Davenport was transported to Garden Park Hospital where she was pronounced, Blackstock said.

The one-year-old child was transported to the hospital by private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries, Blackstock said.

The accident is still under investigation.
