Two weeks until Election Day

With less than two weeks until the Nov. 8 general and District 106 elections, voters in Pearl River County have just a few more opportunities to get to know the candidates vying for their vote.
In Mississippi, six candidates will be listed on the presidential ballot, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
While it seems that more than a year of national media coverage would ensure voters know everything there is to know about these candidates, voters have a responsibility to make sure they are fully
informed before entering the voting booth.
On a local scale, the five District 106
candidates will attend a group campaign event on Saturday.
However, the difference this time is that all five candidates will be present and address the public.
The Pearl River County Executive Committee is
hosting a public forum for the five candidates to discuss their platforms on Oct. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jack’s Fish House.
The event isn’t a debate format such as the one held at Pearl River Community College, but it still carries a great amount of significance.
This could be the last opportunity for county residents to get to know those who wish to be elected to this state position.
Before voters make their choice in less than two weeks, they should take advantage of the opportunities to further their understanding of the candidate’s platforms, and how they would plan to benefit Pearl River County, the state of Mississippi and the nation.
