Car show set for Carriere for cancer awareness

A car show will be held on Saturday in Carriere to raise awareness of cancer , remember those who passed and celebrate the survivors.
Denise Mark said she got the idea to hold the event from one of her customers of Just Wings, who unfortunately passed away from cancer before the event could be held.
Mark said her sister, Joyce Rachel, is a cancer survivor, and will be speaking at Saturday’s event.
“She’s a warrior. I’ve seen her die and come back,” Mark said.
The event will be held at the Royal Palace Estates in Carriere located at 101 Church St.
It will begin at 7 a.m. with the registration of the automobiles and motorcycles for the show. Awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.
Categories will include best paint job, best interior, best engine, most unique, best of show and best work in progress.
The cost to register a vehicle will be $25.
Recognition of cancer survivors will take place at 1 p.m. that day.
Mark said concessions such as cotton candy, popcorn and beverages will be sold at the event.
Outside food and drinks will not be allowed, Mark said.
