Through a joint effort between the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and the Biloxi Police Department, law enforcement officials recovered a stolen logging truck.
Friday at 4:41 a.m., deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to the 11,000 block of Hwy. 11. Several logging trucks were parked in the area, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said.
An employee informed deputies that a 2007 freight runner truck and log trailers was missing from the area, Tucker said.
Deputies contacted the truck’s owner and learned there was a GPS tracking system on the truck, Tucker said.
Through the investigation deputies learned the truck was headed east on Highway 90 from Gulfport into Biloxi, Tucker said.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s deputies alerted the Biloxi Police Department who apprehended the suspect at around 8:30 a.m., Tucker said.
Gary Wallace, 33, of 188867 Reese Dr., Saucier, was arrested and transported to Pearl River County where he was charged with motor vehicle theft, Tucker said.
“There was good communication between the agencies to go out and track this vehicle down,” Tucker said. “The Biloxi Police Department was very helpful in the recovery of this truck.”
