Earlier this month undercover officers with the Picayune Police Department arrested two people after witnessing an alleged drug deal take place in front of a local gas station on U.S 11.
According to reports filed with the department, the arrests took place on April 11, just before 5:30 that evening. At that time, the officers saw an unknown individual walk from behind the gas station toward a vehicle parked in the lot, and then saw what appeared to be an exchange of cash take place. The occupants in the car then allegedly gave the unknown man a baggy with prescription medication, the report states.
Investigators moved in to secure the occupants of the vehicle, later identified as 31-year-old Greg Hall and 29-year-old Amanda Leigh Barber, both of 202 Donnybrook Dr., Carriere.
Inside the vehicle were three children, aged 1, 2 and 7-years-old, the report states.
A search of the vehicle found blue tablets identified as oxycodone, cash, a baggy with a crystal-like substance determined to be methamphetamine and a piece of foil containing a brown substance determined to be heroin, the report states.
Hall was charged with sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church, three counts of felony child abuse, three counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, no insurance, failure to register a vehicle and two counts of no child seat, the report states.
Barber was charged with conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, three counts of felony child abuse and two counts of no child seat, the report states.
The children were released to a family member.
