On Feb. 25, 59-year-old Barbara Brown died at Forrest General Hospital as a result of injuries received in a head-on collision on Feb. 20, Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said.
The accident occurred at 8:05 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 43 South and Salem Chapel Road, Cpl. Benjamin Siebert of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said in a February interview.
According to previous coverage, an F150, driven by 51-year-old Martin Dupre of Picayune, was traveling southbound on Highway 43 and a Chevy Malibu, driven by Brown, was northbound on Highway 43.
Brown’s vehicle crossed the center line and was then involved in a head-on collision with the F150, Siebert said in previous coverage. Dupre, who was wearing his seatbelt, was treated at Forrest General Hospital for moderate injuries.
Siebert said in previous coverage, Brown was not wearing her seatbelt and was trapped inside her vehicle. She suffered life-threatening injuries at the time of the accident and was transported to Forrest General Hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, Siebert said Tuesday.
