Last month, narcotics detectives with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested three suspects for possession of controlled substances.
On Nov. 23, after several months of investigation, 48-year-old Randy Normand of 157 Shorty-Burgess Road Lot 33, and 28-year-old Amber Freeman of the same address, were arrested for several narcotics-related charges, Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison said.
“Over the past months, narcotics detectives conducted controlled purchases of heroin and methamphetamine from the couple,” Allison said. “Detectives obtained warrants and later that day, located and took Normand and Burgess into custody.”
Normand was charged with three counts of sale of a controlled substance, three counts of conspiracy to transfer a controlled substance and a count of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, Allison said.
Freeman was charged with two counts of sale of a controlled substance and two counts of conspiracy to transfer a controlled substance, Allison said.
In a separate matter, on the morning of Nov. 30, PRC narcotics detectives received information that 37-year-old Brian Palmer of 635 Carrol Ave., Bay St. Louis had been stealing prescription pain medication from an elderly man who lives in Pearl River County, Allison said.
Officers responded to the Salem area and observed the vehicle that Palmer was reported to be driving, Allison said.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop and during a search of the vehicle located 40 hydrocodone pills in a prescription bottle labeled with the elderly victim’s name, Allison said.
Palmer was charged with petit larceny and felony possession of a schedule two controlled substance.
