OBIT Dennis Peterson

Church Services for Dennis Gerald Peterson Sr., age 63 of Picayune, MS, who passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, will be held Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 2:00pm at Mt.Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 5:00pm until 10:00pm at McDonald Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eaves Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Cedric Lumpkin will officiate the service.
Dennis was born in Gulfport, MS on April 28, 1952 to Barbara and Earis Peterson of Necaise Crossing. He graduated from Hancock High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was an accomplished athlete and coach. Dennis always listened to people, never left anyone out, and had a real passion for serving the youth in the community. This translated into several years of teaching and coaching at Pearl River Central, Hancock, and Picayune High Schools.
Dennis was well known and respected in the local community. He was a very caring and compassionate person, and always put the needs of others before his own. He spent countless weekends with his parents gardening and enjoying the beauties of nature.
Above all, Dennis was absolutely devoted to his wife Kathie, their four children, and twelve grandchildren. He was a father who always involved himself in every detail of his children’s lives and supported, respected, and loved his wife unconditionally.
He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn L. Eaves Peterson, father Earis J. Peterson, mother Barbara Ladner Peterson, daughter Kathryn Denise Peterson Wince and husband Travis, son Dennis G. Peterson Jr. and wife Kacey, son Brandon R. Peterson and wife Ashley, daughter Lindsey Ashley Peterson Shaw and husband Tad, grandchildren Ansley, Kyler, Noah, Katelyn, Tripp, Kinsley, Lilley, Lennon, Trace, Cooper, Kamryn and Kennedy, brother Terry Peterson and wife Karen, brother Bradley Peterson, sister Tanya Dubuisson and husband Anthony.
