OBIT Edison Williams

On August 13, 2015, our world grew a little dimmer, as one of the tremendous lights that God placed among us was extinguished on this earth so that he may enter the presence of God to ever shine.

Edison M. Williams, Jr. will be honored at a Memorial Service on August 18, 2015 at New Palestine Baptist Church at 2p.m. All who were impacted through his life are welcomed to come and share in the celebration of his life and to offer God thanks for His wonderful gift through the life of Edison Williams. Visitation will be August 17, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. at New Palestine Baptist Church.

He was a remarkable man who stood out in all of his endeavors. He was known as “Big Ed” by those who worked with him at Folgers Coffee plant in New Orleans. He modeled dedication and excellence to all he served with in the workplace. He was also a man who loved his church. He served faithfully on many committees and offered his service through years of deacon ministry at New Palestine Baptist Church. He was a family man on every account. He was faithful to provide for his family while offering excellent guidance in the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edison Murphy Williams, Sr. and Gladys Smith Williams, his son, Joseph Seth Williams, and his brother-in-law, Wayne White.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Cathy Williams; two sons, Edison Murphy Williams, III, and Jeremy Charles Williams; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Makenna, and Micah; his brothers, Charlie (Judy) Williams, and Seth (Chrissy) Williams; sister, Ann White, numerous nieces and nephews. He was known as Poppa by his granddaughters, and grandson, and he had a major and lasting influence upon their lives, and upon the lives of all who knew him.
