Three suspects were recently charged with possession of marijuana and narcotics during a traffic stop for improper lighting.

On Monday, May 18 at 7:57 p.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Memorial Boulevard with only one functioning headlight and a flashing blue light on the dashboard, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

At that time, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Telly Road. When officers approached the vehicle, they smelled what they believed to be marijuana coming from inside, Magri said.

The officers spoke with the driver, later identified as 27-year-old Cordell House of 101 Harry St., who was unable to provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance. Two passengers inside the vehicle were identified as 30-year-old Ashley Amos and 18-year-old Jacob Magliolo of the same address, Magri said.

While speaking with the subjects, officers noticed a clear pipe containing a burnt white residue on the dashboard, Magri said. The pipe is commonly used to inhale narcotics, Magri said. At that time, officers asked the three subjects to exit the vehicle, Magri said.

Once the subjects exited the vehicle, the officers conducted a search. They recovered the pipe and found a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana inside the rear passenger door, Magri said.

Through the initial investigation it was determined Magliolo was the owner of the marijuana but no one was established as the owner of the pipe, Magri said.

Magliolo was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Amos was charged with possession of paraphernalia and House was charged with illegal flashing of a blue light, no driver’s license, no proof of insurance and possession of paraphernalia. While at the scene, House was also charged with DUI after he allegedly appeared to be under the influence, Magri said.

All three subjects were transported to the Criminal Justice Center where a female officer conducted a more thorough search on Amos. At that time, the female officer located a piece of aluminum foil containing a white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine inside Amos’s rectum. Amos was additionally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, Magri said.

Officers also conducted a thorough search on House and found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana inside his garments. House was additionally charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, Magri said.
