Tuesday, I thought I would need a boat to get around town, which might come in handy since meteorologists are predicting the same wet conditions to last until the weekend.
I love a rainy day, so as long as I am inside to enjoy it. Not just anywhere, in my house snuggled up with my fur babies, a blanket, a hot cup of coffee and something classic on my television.
The tunes from the Gene Kelly classic movie musical “Singin in the Rain” tend to fill my head during downpours.
I’ve always wanted to dance in the street and belt out the song “Singin in the Rain” just like Kelly.
Another cult classic favorite of mine is “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford are magnificent and Davis plays the perfect demented sibling who tortures her sister.
Speaking of Davis, “Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte,” is an eerie movie set in the south with eclectic performances by both Davis and Olivia de Havilland. The haunting title song still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.
I mainly prefer psychological thrillers more so than a gory and bloody horror movie.
Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” is a major favorite thriller of mine, although I still close my eyes during the bathtub scene.
There are no words to describe Jack Nicholson’s amazing performance.
Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” is, for some, an acquired taste, but a wonderful movie that speaks volumes about the human psyche.
Then there are times when I’m in the mood for some Quentin Tarantino.
The “Kill Bill” movies are my absolute favorite, yes I realize they are bloody, but they are just amazing in my book, along with “Pulp Fiction.”
If I’m feeling romantic I’ll pop in the British version of “Pride and Prejudice.” In my eyes, no one will ever be able to play the role of Mr. Darcy as well as Colin Firth.
There are many more movies that I enjoy watching during a rainy day and I’m sure you have your favorites as well.
However, if you’re unable to enjoy a few moments with your favorite movies, then stay safe on the roads.
