Pearl River County welcomed its newest citizen in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, as the first baby of 2015 was born at Highland Community Hospital in Picayune.
Missy Burns gave birth to a baby boy, Bentley, at 1:48 a.m. Bentley measured in at a healthy 10 pounds, 9 and a half ounces. Missy Burns said everything went well and he is doing great.
“I’m a proud father,” said Tim Burns, “he’s the baby of seven children now.”
Tim Burns was surprised to find that Bentley was the first baby born in the county this year, but it wasn’t the first time a child of his had made the news.
“We actually had an article written on us a couple of years ago because our older child was the first baby born in the new hospital,” said Tim Burns, “It might have even been the same room.”
The Burns’ drive to the hospital late Wednesday night was backlit by exploding fireworks and New Year’s celebrations. A short time later, the proud parents would be enjoying their own type of celebration with the birth of their healthy newborn son. Tim Burns said that he recalls checking his watch and noticing that the clock had hit midnight as they were approaching the hospital.
With all the fireworks exploding, Tim Burns said that Bentley came into the world with a bang.
