Mother Louise “Flossie” Powell Thompson was born on July 25, 1929, to the late Willie Powell and Francis Kylons of Prentiss, Ms. She was called home by God on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at age 85.
Mother Thompson accepted Christ at an early age. Her church home was Jerusalem Baptist Church until she moved her membership to Lily of The Valley. As a faithful member of the Lily of the Valley Church, she also served as Church Mother until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Thompson and daughter, Helen Anthony.She leaves to cherish her memories: Walter (Felicie) Gray, Willie (Julie) Frowner, Nathan (Elizabeth) Powell, Catherine Torregano, Mary Powell, Gaybe Wrightout, Linda (Joseph) Holmes, and Joyce Cooper; she reared David (Sarah) Boyet, Warren Wrightout, Dr. Tysha Powell; and Godchild, Mary Alice Tanksley, and gospel grandchild, Alayna Merrill; 28 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren; and 27 great great grandchildren; five siblings, Andrew Gray, Raymond (Wanda) Kylons, Betty Barnes, Alfred (Leola) Evans, and Rosa Pearl Aultman; aunt, Frannkie Burrell; Lily of The Valley Church family, The Frierson Family and host of nieces, nephews, relatives.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014, 11am at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, 500 N. Beech St. in Picayune, MS and Pastor Carolyn Roberson, officiating and assisted by Elder David Simmons, Pastor Rose of Sharon.
