Funeral Services for Lavell Collum, 89, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, will be held Friday, July 25, 2014, at 9 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Bro. Jeremy Wilson will officiate the service.
A native of Soso, Miss., he was a Carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church of Nicholson. Lavell served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He participated in five major campaigns, which included The Omaha Beach, Rhine River Crossing, Battle of the Bulge, and Central Europe. He also participated in several suicide missions. Lavell was part of the 333rd Engineering Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Collum and Lilly Reeves Collum; his wife of 42 years, Lavell Williams Collum; his brothers, Lavon Collum and Curtis Collum; and his sister, Lula Mae DeVeries.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Sumrall, and Paul Collum and wife Theresa; his 5 grandchildren, Sonya, Jeremy, Jason, Amanda, and Alana; and his 4 great grandchildren, Sierra, Dallas, Landon, and Jerry.
