The victim said that he and the alleged suspect, Tavarius McGee, 29, of an unknown address, had been playing basketball earlier when an altercation occurred between the two men, Magri said.

The victim stated MaGee left after the altercation and returned with a gun, which he used to fire several shots at the victim, who was hit twice in the lower torso, Magri said.  The suspect then fled the scene, Magri said.

Ambulance personnel transported the victim to Highland Community Hospital, but no further information is known about his condition at this time, Magri said.

The suspect is still at large, Magri said.

Chief Bryan Dawsey is asking anyone with knowledge of MaGee’s whereabouts to please call the Picayune Police Department at 601-798-7411.
