Funeral Services for Ellen Louise Penton, 86, of Carriere, Miss., who passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, were held Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Sones Chapel Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation was Sunday until time of service at Sones Chapel Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial was at Sones Chapel Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Bro. Jessie Johnson, Bro. Curtis Nobles, and Bro. Billy Spence officiated at the services.
A native of McNeill, Miss., Mama Weezie was the matriarch and heart of her family. She was a very active member of Sones Chapel Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where she led her Ladies Sunday School Class. Louise devoted her talents and time as she sewed and cooked to uplift and encourage others in her community. She was a successful and respected business woman as she made her career in interior design and real estate.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Barney Lumpkin and Susie Spiers Lumpkin; her husband of 48 years, Aubrey M. Penton, Sr.; her children: Aubrey M. Penton, Jr., Miriam Penton Hayes Easterling, Roy A. Penton, Sr., and Baby Boy Penton; her brothers: Ulmer Lumpkin, Elmer Lumpkin, Billy Lumpkin and John Lumpkin; and her sister, Hilda Penton.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sue Spence and son-in-law, Billy Ray; her 10 grandchildren: Billy Spence, Manthie Hayes, Susan Fradella, Jonathan Spence, Stephanie Morris, Roy Penton, Jr., Kimberly Alford, Josh Spence, Daniel Penton, and Chris Penton; 20 great grandchildren; her sisters: Margie Strahan and Patricia Owen; her daughters-in-law: Dana Penton, Lisa Penton, and Anna Penton.
