Workers have started decorating Jackson Square for the holidays.
Now through Dec. 1, workers will be stringing the city’s famous square with garland, 70 giant red velvet bows and tens of thousands of sparkling white lights.
The decorations will be illuminated for the first time on Dec. 1. French Quarter Festivals, Inc., the group leading the decorating endeavor, plans to flip the switch on the lights at roughly 5:45 p.m.
The lighting will be followed by a Christmas concert with New Orleans jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis inside St. Louis Cathedral at 6 p.m.
