State Sen. Terry Burton of Newton says he’s resting at home after spending six days in the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
The 54-year-old Republican said Friday that he had suffered a spinal cord tear and leakage of spinal fluid.
He says doctors hope two or three days of rest will seal the tear in his spinal cord and help cure a headache.
Burton is chairman of the Senate Elections Committee. His district covers Lauderdale, Newton and Scott counties.
