Funeral services were held Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Picayune for Jane Anne Handley, 78, of Picayune, who passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Burial was in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Dr. Keith Warden officiated at the service.

Jane Anne was a retired Principal at Roseland Park Elementary School, a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune and a member of numerous civic organizations.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, L.V. Evans and Anne Smith Evans; her husband, Donald Handley; and two brothers, Leroy Evans and Robert Evans.

Survivors include: her daughter, Elizabeth (Sissie) Handley; her sons, Dr. Richard (Kay) Handley of Austin, Texas and Dr. John (Beth) Handley of Madison, Miss.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Vincent “Bean” Evans Turner of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her close friend, Jack Spiers of Picayune.

Visitation was held Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home and also Monday, December 14, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
