James D. Philyaw, 72, of Carriere passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Philyaw was a native of Lenoir, N.C., a retired marine engineer and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam war.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ida Coffee Philyaw.

Survivors include: two sons, James Robert Philyaw and Mark Anthony Philyaw both of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
