Belhaven College has asked alumni and students their thoughts on adding “university” to the school’s name.
Belhaven President Roger Parrott said that he is not advocating one position or the other. He says the decision will be made based on comments from alumni and students.
Belhaven College is a four-year liberal arts college in Jackson. Until 1972, the college was owned and operated by the Synod of Mississippi, Presbyterian Church in the United States, through a Synod-elected board of trustees. In 1972, the Synod gave ownership of the college to a self-perpetuating board of trustees.
