Clarence Wheat

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Nicholson for Clarence Wheat, 96, of Picayune who passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 in Bogalusa, La.
Burial will be in Turtleskin Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
The Rev. Billy Galloway will officiate at the service.
A native of Poplarville, he was a Carpenter and a member of the Baptist faith. He was a Tech Sergeant (Armorer) in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in the Australian Theater of Operations from 1942-1944 where he spent time in the East Indies, New Guinea and Paupan Islands.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Daniel Carver Wheat and Josephine Farr Wheat; his wife, Myra Frierson; his son, Norman S. Wheat; and one daughter, Georgia K. Wheat.
Survivors include: one son, Wilbur D. Wheat of Picayune; one daughter, Kathy Wheat Westbrook of Picayune; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Myra Lee Dawsey of Carriere; and two brothers, J.D. Wheat and Willie S. Wheat both of Buck Branch Community.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
