God’s frosting covers us all

Today I was in the mood to bake something different. A friend sent a recipe for fig cake, so my creative mind went right to work. I gathered all the ingredients and soon the aroma from the oven filled my home. The sound of the bell on the stove signaled my sweet masterpiece was ready. While waiting for the cake to cool, I took a bite of the sample cake I made earlier. I decided this was the best cake ever!
Several minutes later, I decided to remove my cake from the pan to display it on my cake platter. I cannot explain what happened, but the cake hit the plate in the big pieces and the decorative top was stuck to the bottom of the pan. My beautiful creation was just too ugly to brag about. There was nothing I could do with this ugly mss. No matter how good it tasted no one wanted to eat something that looked like a pile of dirt or worst.
Then I thought of frosting my new creation and decorating it with pecans. Wow!! This cannot be the same cake. Sitting pretty as a picture in the Betty Crocker cookbook, my ugly cake was re-born.
The thought came to my mind of the purpose of the blood that Christ shed on the cross for us. We were created in the image of God, but somewhere along the way sin turned God’s beautiful creation into an evil mess. When satan finished with us we were so ugly nobody wanted us. Then Jesus came and took our mess and turned it into a beautiful miracle. He covered all our flaws with his precious blood so that only our beauty showed.
All the hurts, heart-aches, abuse, mistakes, etc. that nobody will ever know are all covered by the blood of Jesus. Praise God for the blood that frosts us making us beautiful again.
If you are feeling ugly and hopeless today, may I suggest you let God frost you.
The word says: Therefore if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 HCSB).
