A dump truck owner-operator was killed here when the vehicle backed over him as he worked on its brakes, authorities said.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Chester Dubuisson, 71, of Pass Christian, was killed in Monday’s accident.
Police said people who saw the accident, which occurred in an area under development in Gulfport, placed chocks under the truck’s wheels to stabilize the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived.
Authorities said Dubuisson was about to leave in the truck to get another load of dirt when he stopped at the street corner to check his brakes.
“He apparently had some brake problems and had gotten out to crawl under it and work on it,” Hargrove said in a www.sunherald.com article.
Dubuisson was under the back tires when police and firefighters arrived, Hargrove said.
