A former Jackson strip club owner has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failing to pay nearly $344,000 in income taxes to the IRS.

Jon Adams, who was instrumental in the 1999 federal bribery conviction of former Jackson City Council President Louis Armstrong, was convicted in June.

Adams would not comment after sentencing Friday. He plans to appeal the sentence.

Adams remains out on bond and will turn himself in to begin serving his time on Jan. 7. Adams led federal authorities to investigate former Jackson City Council President Louis Armstrong over a bribe for a favorable City Council vote.

The judge said he took that into account during sentencing. Armstrong pleaded guilty in February 1999 to bribery and conspiracy to commit extortion for accepting part of a $25,000 bribe to influence a rezoning vote on Adams’ Stardust Cabaret.
