Betty Ann Little Hollis, a beautiful woman, born February 19, 1943, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 15. She was the wife of Jerry Hollis and mother of Tom Hollis. She was the daughter of Marvin and Mary Little, who raised her with the help of her aunts, Annie Hendrick Barr and Ethel Elizabeth Barr. Betty Ann grew up in Troy, Ala., graduating from Charles Henderson High School in 1961. She went on to Troy State University where she decided to marry her high school sweetheart. Jerry Hollis was the love of her life. They married on August 17, 1964 and moved to Memphis, Tenn. where Jerry completed Optometry School. They then moved to Laurel, Miss. and later to Picayune, where they lived for 25 years. Betty Ann was involved in many church activities at the First Presbyterian Church. She was also involved in a great many community activities. Wherever Betty Ann lived, because of her love of community and love of people, she made life long friends. She moved back to Alabama in 1991, living on beautiful Lake Martin, where she continued to live the Christian life of loving God and loving neighbor. It is best to say that the Christian life was simply Betty Ann’s nature.

She was a good story teller, cook, bridge player, and gardener. She loved to nurture plants and flowers in her garden and in her house. Every thing she did, she did well. She endeared herself to all with her unconditional love and care for others. She was a complete homemaker and a beautiful Southern lady.

Even when Betty Ann was preparing to see her Lord, Jesus Christ, she was always showing hospitality. During her sickness she remained at peace. Her strength gave strength to all. Her husband, her son, and all she met, received the strength she found in God.

Betty Ann is survived not only by her husband Jerry and son Tom, but by many loving family members.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Troy on Tuesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. The visitation will be at the church starting at 10 a.m. The service will be officiated by Dr. Ed Walter, the Reverend George Hollis, and the Reverend Wade Acton. Following the service, there will be a procession to the graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Dillard Funeral Home of Troy is directing. Pallbearers will be Wesley Little, Ben Little, Bob Boothe, Bert Wilkes, Steve Colley, Jud Colley, Phil Hall, Bill Steagall, and Paul Pankey.
