Two operations conducted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department this past week found what is alleged to be methamphetamine activity.

Both operations took place Thursday. The first took place at 840 Springhill Rd., Poplarville. As the investigators, assisted by agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, pulled up to the residence, they saw three people standing outside. When the people saw the investigators pulling up, one grabbed a duffel bag and ran, said Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier.

A short foot pursuit ended with the apprehension of all the suspects. Several precursor chemicals believed to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were found in the duffel bag, Saucier said. As they secured the residence, the smell of what could have been previous methamphetamine cooks was in the air and the place was filled with smoke. A generator commonly used in methamphetamine labs and evidence of previous cooks also were recovered during the search, Saucier said.

Precursor items found in the home included filters, scales and baggies, Saucier said. Investigators also found 3.5 grams of methamphetamine, two rifles, a shotgun, and an additional 2.4 grams of methamphetamine was also found in suspect, James Brandon Martin’s vehicle.

Suspects charged as a result of this case include, Justin A. Nuccio, 22, of 840 Springhill Rd., charged with possession of precursor chemicals while in possession of firearms, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; Jared N. Nuccio, 26, 50 Smith Dr., Lumberton, charged with possession of precursor chemicals; James Brandon Martin, 30, 50 Shady Oak Lane, Poplarville, charged with possession of precursor chemicals while in possession of firearms, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; Brad E. Martin, 34, 50 Shady Oak Lane, charged with possession of precursor chemicals while in possession of firearms, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and Jacob Edwin Hariel, 18, 27 Eddie Hariel Rd., Poplarville charged with possession of precursor chemicals while in possession of firearms, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

During the search of the home, two people arrived in a truck. Investigators conducted a search on the vehicle driven by Ernest E. Clark 22, of 150 Humphrey Rd., Poplarville with passenger Daniel High, 32, of 111 Robert Lane, Poplarville. The search found methamphetamine, a rifle and a shotgun in the truck, Saucier said.

High was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Clark was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A second operation that same day netted two more suspects, Lincoln Edward Wells, 29, of 3015 Miss. 53, Poplarville and Latasha Dorsey, 25, of 327 Barth Rd. Saucier said as a result of an investigation by Sgt. Russell Miller and Sherman Gaspard, a search warrant was secured for Wells’ residence and served with assistance of MBN.

During the search, alleged previous methamphetamine cooks were found in a burn pile. Inside the residence investigators found 2.1 grams of methamphetamine along with camp fuel, filters and other precursor chemicals. A .38-caliber Deringer handgun also was recovered from the home, Saucier said.

Both Wells and Dorsey were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of precursor chemicals. Also during the search, investigators found stolen property that linked Wells to two residential burglaries. Wells was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of residential burglary.
