Singing River Hospital will relocate seven trees planted in memory of deceased Hospice of Light patients during construction of a new health services and wellness facility.
Every November, the hospital plants a new live oak in memory of those who died that year. Hospice of Light provides in-home care for the terminally ill.
Hospital officials say the seven trees, which range from 7 to 25 feet tall, granite markers and lists of the deceased to a new site.
The hospital will rededicate the trees after the new facility is completed.
Every year a tree is planted, the hospital staff writes down the names of each individual who died the previous year, places the list in a plastic bag and buries the list with the tree.
