Federal investigators continued to comb the wooded area where a four-seat Cessna plane plunged to the ground late Friday, killing three Mississippi residents.
Authorities say the plane, piloted by 39-year-old Glyn Ray Johnson, of Gauthier, Miss., took off from Slidell and was bound for Marksville.
Also killed in the crash were Johnson’s girlfriend, 39-year-old Tabitha Dolbare, and the couple’s son, 13-year-old Nelson Dolbare.
The plane’s engine and two red-and-white-tipped propeller blades were retrieved Sunday from the woods and brought to the command center established in a clearing near the crash site — a wooded area northwest of La. Highways 442 and 43.
Tom Latson, investigator-in-charge with the National Transportation Safety Board, said a recovery crew will be on site by Tuesday morning to retrieve the rest of the aircraft.
