Routine law enforcement work has uncovered evidence to charge some suspects with various crimes.
The first incident took place Friday as Patrol Deputy Randy Burge conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 45 year-old James D. Bond of 216 Dick Kennedy Rd. Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said Burge found a pill bottle containing a white powdery substance in the vehicle during the stop.
Half a Xanax pill also was found in the vehicle. Those two substances prompted Burge to call Narcotics Investigator Rob Williams, who believed the white powdery substance to be methamphetamine, Saucier said.
Bond and his passenger, Charisse E. O’Meara, 40, of 6 Watts Rd., both were charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Saucier said.
In a separate incident on Saturday, narcotics investigators received information that a man with a warrant out for his arrest, Timothy F. Harris Jr., 29, of 207 Dick Kennedy Rd., was at his residence. The investigators went to the residence and Timothy F. Harris Sr., 51, also of 207 Dick Kennedy Rd., answered the door and said that his son was inside.
The investigators went inside and located Timothy Harris Jr., taking him into custody. As they took him into custody, the investigators found a substance believed to be methamphetamine in his jeans pocket. The investigators also noticed a strong chemical smell in the home and several items used in the manufacture of the drug, Saucier said.
A warrant was secured and investigators searched the home, locating several precursor chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, Saucier said.
Another person at the home at the time of the search was Amy R. White, 23, also of 207 Dick Kennedy Rd. All three people at the home were charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of precursors. Timothy Harris Jr. also was taken into custody for his probation violation warrant, Saucier said.
A separate incident on Saturday acme as the result of a service call on a civil complaint. Deputy Gary Lumpkin responded to the call involving a property dispute and noticed Leonard Martin, 52, of 63 A. Cecil Smith Rd., Carriere, had a firearm in his immediate control, Saucier said.
While Lumpkin discussed the property dispute with Martin and his neighbor, Narcotics Investigator Joe Garcia was called to the scene to assist. Information was later shared with the two officers during the service call that Martin had a prior conviction.
He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Saucier said.
