Police say two suspects are in custody in connection with the death of a school teacher whose body was found in her Laurel home.
Police Sgt. Michael Reaves said authorities plan to file capital murder charges in the death of Rebecca Pruitt, a 29-year-old second-grade teacher at Mason Elementary School.
An autopsy was being performed Monday on Pruitt. Authorities believe she was attacked before a fire was started in the home she and her husband shared on West 15th Street.
Reaves says Pruitt’s husband was at work Sunday.
Authorities said they found the victim’s missing vehicle behind a residence. Reaves said authorities “are in the field, wrapping up some loose ends.”
